Scents Haul: Zenzest Overload

11 Jul

Smelling good can make a big difference in a person’s everyday confidence.  Based on experience, my day is always brighter whenever I don something that smells nice on me.

I’m not biggie on pricey perfume. Anything that smells good is fine. One of the few scents that I liked was Alyssa Ashley Musk for women. However, this costs a bit over Php1,500 as far as I can remember, and for the moment I’m not willing to shell out that amount yet just for  perfumes. My current stash of generic whatever fragrances are fast depleting, when I decided to avail myself of some Zenzest GC worth Php1,000 from our office store.

I’ve tried one or two of Zenzest’s spray-ons, and I must say that they’re pretty fragrant enough for their cheap prices. Besides, I can spritz all I want without feeling guilty on the hefty price of what I’m using. So off I went to Shangrila Mall, armed with my GC. Their stall in Shangrila is located at the lower ground floor in front of the food court.

The girls at the shop are ecstatic upon learning that I will be purchasing products worth Php1,000. Kind of a break from their pretty slow day. I went from bottle to bottle, sniffing coffee beans in between to cleanse my olfactory and avoid scents overdrive. After going from end to end and covered the four corner space of their small stall, I came up with this mix of odds and ends of scents that appealed to me. I’m quite disappointed however when the staff forgot to include one of my order in the purchase. Anyhoo, I can always go back.

"Impression of Incanto Shine" (php180)

The appeal of the different scents of what I bought is different in the everyday use of the cologne assortments. “Impression of Incanto Shine” came out as a favourite with its fresh from the shower smell.

This came in second, and this is the first scent that I bought from them.

Magenta (roughly Php250)

I use this fragrance in the office, not for myself but to freshen up my work area. Or just when I feel like splashing myself with some nice scents.

"Impression of D&G Light Blue (php180)

“Impression of D&G Light Blue (php180)

I rarely use this and planned on sending it to my mom. The smell is light to the point of nausea.

"Impression of Moon Sparkle" (Php180)

“Impression of Moon Sparkle” (Php180)

This smells uberly sweet and heavy. I use this when I go out to do chores like groceries in nearby stores etc.

Room Fragrance - Calming (Php280)

Does work only on the few seconds that you are spritzing your space with these. Does not stay too long.

Will I buy again? Of course, I’ll hoard on Incanto Shine, lols. But I’m also considering on buying Issey Miyake perfume so….let’s just see. But all in all, if you’re looking for cheap scents to perk your confidence up, Zenzest is not a bad choice.

Skin Food, Finally!

31 May

I have some Skin Food GCs sitting at my wallet, for the longest time. I’ve planned on redeeming it at SM Megamall, but found out that the outlet there was already closed. Bummer!

Why so expensive? 😦

So one weekend that I got the chance to visit SM MOA, I immediately looked for their branch. It’s quite easy to locate, since it is near the entrance to the mall’s wing (I forgot which). This one’s just across the small oval activity area, overlooking the Ocean Drive road.

The loot...

The loot…

Hair products are my priority for my GCs so I went straight for that section in their store. A sales assistant blabbered mechanically about their latest products etc. I was looking for the Argan oil product, in my mind it was a leave-on thing. Turns out, it’s an essence oil for the scalp. Not my thing. So I went to proceed to their other hair products, choosing between the Avocado leave-on fluid and the shampoo + conditioner tandem in exotic container. Giving in to practicality, I opted for something that will save me some bucks on buying essentials….like shampoo and conditioner.

Argain Oil Silk Shampoo (Php845.00)

Argain Oil Silk Shampoo 400ml (Php845.00)

According to Skin Food’s website, the hair needs to be soaked to lukewarm water first before application of the shampoo. They claim that this wonder product “transform dry, damaged hair into healthy, shiny tresses”. Better keep your promise, your prices are not cheap!

Argan Oil Silk Conditioner 390ml (Php845.00)

Argan Oil Silk Conditioner 390ml (Php845.00)

Just as with the shampoo, this conditioner needs to be rinsed with lukewarm water.

VERDICT:

I used this both without the help of the lukewarm water since I’ve read about it just now as I’m drafting this blog. I took a shower a little bit before noon, and after nearly 12 hours there’s still a faint trace of the fragrance of the products. My hair is also lighter than usual, not too heavy or oily like those times I use local conditioner. I’ll give an updated feedback after a week or two, and also after I use this with lukewarm water.

I’m kind of hoping to have positive results with Skin Food. I intend to have a brand that I can always go to for my essentials, and I’m giving Skin Food a chance. The only downside I can see as of now is that the Philippine outlets charge almost twice as much. For these babies, the price range is from $13.00-$15.00 on Amazon, and much cheaper if bought straight from Korea or other Asian countries aside from the Philippines.

Will I buy again? We’ll see….

SHOPAHOLIC: I Pay More on Payless Slippers

7 May

Bad shoe decisions can at times cost you a lot. This I have to learn the painful way.

I was preparing to leave the office to meet a friend in Edsa Shang Mall when I was faced with the decision of either wearing an ugly flats or a nice high heels. Edsa Shang is a good few blocks away from our office, and at that time I deemed it wise to wear something that will hide my hideously untended toenails.

I felt ok a few meters away of walking, but the strain grew thrice-fold when I covered around a hundred meters of ground on a limp. It got worse when I arrived at the mall, and tried desperately to find some ankle stockings to ease out the pressure caused by my sweating feet.

My friend Nette arrived via MRT, and saw how bad my discomfort is. She advised me to buy something to replace my high heel shoes, as I told her that we have a long walk ahead of us to Astora Plaza where I will be treating her for some catch up dinner. We then went to Payless shoe store, and my initial plan was to buy an ankle stockings I saw a while ago. Wow! One pair of the stockings is worth Php150 at the minimum! Ok so I have no other option but to buy some decent and cheap footwear, aka beach slippers.

Montano Bay in Pink (php245)

Montego Bay in Pink (php245)

Good thing they have this not-so-cheap baby in stock. I chose this Montego Bay slippers among other options since this is the cheapest. This was not a planned purchase, nor do I intend to buy a flipflop since I don’t have beach plans in the near future. To console myself with the misfortune of overspending, I chose the one in pink. My foot were not pretty in those slip-ons but boy do they feel good beneath my feet! Like stepping on buttery marshmallows.

And yes, with the cost of this new pair I could have easily snagged a new pair of cheap flats I can use for everyday walking to and fro the office. And that I can easily buy a slipper not more than half the price of this one. Sigh…chose comfort next time to avoid unnecessary expense such as this. Sigh…..

SHOPAHOLIC: Officine + Alberto

13 Apr

To give you guys an update, I’m still working in a magazine publishing company where most employees eat and breathe fashion and style. I’m loving the aura at work, the fashion rebel and nonchalant me is being forcefully thrust to comply with the work norm. I view this as an advantage since it lifts me to finding my own style.

One of the first things I bought (since my new work) that I can consider trendy are my bags. I scoured the metro for the most stand-out design of bags from Officine and Alberto’s, and using my gift checks, managed to snag two mid-priced bags worthy of some raves. Continue reading
